COVID-19 Customer Resources

Q: As a customer, what energy efficiency program options are currently available to me?

Though the Massachusetts Program Administrators (PAs) have temporarily had to suspend on-premise services by contracted vendors, many other aspects of our nation-leading energy efficiency programs remain open for business.

Residential Programs and Offerings:

Online Home Energy Assessments: Saving energy and money is easy with the Mass Save® Online Home Energy Assessment. See how you're currently using energy, review efficiency recommendations and rebates, and receive an estimate of potential cost savings. You'll also learn if your home is a good candidate for an in-home or virtual energy assessment. Learn more.

“Virtual home energy assessments”: In response to the current situations, the PAs have worked closely with our home energy assessment providers to create an opportunity for home energy assessments to be delivered completely remotely for one to four unit buildings – without the need for anyone to visit your home. These assessments can be completed with just a smart phone or device and an ability to take and electronically send a small number of digital photographs of your home. These assessments can result in the same benefits as our more traditional in-person assessments, including the free at-home delivery of any identified ‘instant savings measures’ (LED lightbulbs, smart power strips, etc.) and the identification of larger savings opportunities like improved home insulation and more efficient heating systems. While the implementation of some of these larger measures might need to wait until the suspension has been lifted, many of the traditional incentives offered for these measures (including zero interest financing) can be accessed in today. Learn more.

On-line marketplace: Our on-line marketplace remains open. By indicating who your provider is, you can access best-in-class, discounted, energy efficient products that are the best fit for your home, and receive instant rebates

HEAT Loans: Zero-interest financing through the Mass Save network of local lenders remains available for larger energy efficiency purchases. See this page for more details on qualifying products and how to apply.

In-store rebates: The Massachusetts PAs are continuing to provide rebates on energy efficient products purchased through participating retailers. In some cases, these rebates are applied right at the time of purchase. Or, you can submit your rebate through our online portal by clicking here – no additional paperwork is required.

Refrigerator recycling: You will receive $75 when we pick up and recycle your functioning, no longer-needed refrigerator or freezer as long as you have it placed outside of your home.  Learn more.

Thermostat control programs: Cooling season is right around the corner, and customers with Smart thermostats and central air-conditioning can continue to sign up today to receive financial incentives for helping us to keep electric rates down for everyone by automatically raising the temperature in your home by a few degrees during times of peak electricity demand.  Learn more.

Business Programs and Offerings:

Available for small business or large commercial/industrial customers.

Upstream/point of sale incentives: all lighting, HVAC, natural gas water heating, and food service incentives offered through the PAs’ statewide distributor partners continue to be available to our C&I customers and, for some products, have temporarily increased incentives. For details, please visit the following program pages:

“Virtual” pre- and post-inspections: the PAs have developed procedures to allow progress on a limited range of less complex projects/measures to continue throughout the program suspension period thereby enabling those projects to either proceed or be closed out and have payments issued.  For more information, please contact your Program Administrator directly.

Small business direct install financial support: In recognition of the difficulties facing our small business customers and the associated contractor community, the PAs are offering higher incentives, in some cases 100% of project costs, on qualifying direct install measures/projects through their respective small business program implementation vendors. For more information, please contact your Program Administrator directly.
