Instant Lighting Incentives

In alignment with the Commonwealth’s climate policy and goals, the Sponsors of Mass Save are discontinuing incentives for non-controlled lighting products through the Instant Lighting Initiative. Eligible non-controlled lighting products must be purchased by December 31, 2024, to receive an incentive. As of January 1, 2025, only eligible products with integrated occupancy, multi-function, and or LLLC/NLC Sensors will be eligible for Mass Save C&I Instant Lighting Initiative incentives.

The Sponsors of Mass Save have partnered with electrical distributors to offer businesses instant discounts on lighting equipment with integral controls.

Instant incentives are available for a variety select LED fixtures with integral controls including:

  • Troffers and troffer retrofit kids with occupancy, dual sensing, or LLLC Sensors
  • Linear Fixtures with occupancy, dual sensing, or LLLC Sensors
  • Stairwell Fixtures with Sensors
  • High & Low Bay fixtures with occupancy, dual sensing or LLLC Sensors
  • Exterior fixtures with occupancy or motion sensors

Product must be on a qualified product list or Design Lights Consortium (DLC) to be considered. To determine the eligibility of specific products please contact your local lighting distributor

The following products are qualified by DLC.

  • Stairwell Fixtures with Integral controls
  • Troffers & Troffer Retrofit Kits with Integral Controls
  • High & Low Bay Fixtures with Integral Controls
  • Exterior Fixtures with Integral Controls

  1. Determine Your Lighting Needs
    Contact your contractor to determine the lighting needs for your business.
  2. Find a Participating Distributor
    Locate participating distributors who can work with you and your contractor to identify the right type of high-efficiency lighting for your business.
  3. Select Qualified Lighting Products
    Lighting equipment with integral controls must fall under program-specific lighting categories. Reference the Eligible Products tab for the full list of lighting products that qualify for instant incentives.
  4. Receive Incentive
    To receive the incentive at the time of sale, the eligible commercial site and contractor information must be given to the distributor. Once you receive your energy-efficient lighting, make sure to install it in your facility within 30 days.

  • Must be an existing customer of Cape Light Compact, Eversource, National Grid, or Unitil
  • Equipment must be purchased from a participating distributor 
  • Minimum customer contribution is required for lighting equipment with integral controls sold that is receiving an instant incentive
  • Only commercially metered locations in one of the Program Sponsors’ territories in Massachusetts qualify for incentives. Municipal electric customers are not eligible to receive incentives
  • Equipment must be installed and operated within Massachusetts
  • Once purchased, equipment must be installed within 30 days
  • Lighting equipment with integral controls receiving an instant incentive are not allowed to be incentivized through any other program offered by the Sponsors of Mass Save
