Boilers & Furnaces

Upgrade your heating equipment to a high-efficiency furnace or boiler.
Energy efficient heating system in Massachusetts

Today’s boilers and furnaces are more efficient than older models and can help you save energy and money.

Both furnaces and boilers produce and distribute heat. A boiler heats water and then pushes the steam or hot water through a system of pipes via radiators, baseboards, or underfloor radiant heating. A furnace forces heated air through ducts

Paired with weatherization upgrades  (insulation and air sealing), upgrading heating and cooling equipment is one of the most effective ways to lower your energy use.

Before upgrading or installing a boiler or furnace, consider a heat pump. Heat pumps provide both heating and cooling in one unit and can be installed with or without existing duct work. The Sponsors of Mass Save offer rebates up to $15,000 per home on qualifying heat pump systems.

Greater discounts and no-cost options are also available to income-qualifying customers.

In alignment with the commonwealth’s climate policy and goals, the Sponsors of Mass Save are discontinuing rebates and financing for equipment powered by natural gas, oil and propane. Eligible natural gas, oil and propane heating and water heating equipment must be purchased and installed by August 31, 2024, and all necessary documentation submitted by September 30, 2024, to receive a rebate. Customers interested in applying for the 0% HEAT Loan for eligible natural gas, oil or propane equipment must request a HEAT Loan Authorization Letter by April 30, 2024.

Rebates are based on the fuel and equipment currently used to heat your home.
