About Camp Jabberwocky

Camp Jabberwocky is one of the oldest sleep away camps in the United States serving people with disabilities. Located on Martha's Vineyard, the camp was founded in the early 1950s and provides a welcoming vacation experience for campers while offering valuable respite for their caregivers. Through recreation, community and meaningful experiences, Camp Jabberwocky fosters independence, self-determination and personal growth in an environment rooted in inclusivity, love and mutuality.

Why are they a Mass Save Impact Award recipient?

Camp Jabberwocky has partnered with Cape Light Compact for several years to improve comfort, reduce energy use and advance sustainability across its 25-building campus. Recent upgrades included installing an air source heat pump to replace a propane heating system, as well as LED lighting, air sealing and attic insulation improvements.

The organization continues to pursue additional energy efficiency and decarbonization projects in 2026, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to increasing energy efficiency and building a more sustainable future. This dedication has earned Camp Jabberwocky recognition as a Mass Save Impact Award recipient.
