Why are the Sponsors of Mass Save providing the Energy Code Technical Support Initiative?
Massachusetts’ natural gas and electric utilities and energy efficiency service providers (Sponsors) are providing this service as a part of our long-standing commitment to improve the energy performance of the building stock throughout Massachusetts.
This service is part of the Sponsors’ existing portfolio of energy efficiency solutions to enhance our commitment to energy savings through code support. Similar to residential and commercial energy efficiency offers and services, this initiative is funded by electric and natural gas ratepayers.
Who is eligible for these services under this initiative?
This offer is intended for code officials, design professionals, builders, subcontractors, suppliers of materials and equipment, and others.
Does the technical support staff provide energy code enforcement or formal energy code interpretations?
The energy code technical support staff are not code officials, and the information provided through the initiative is not a formal interpretation of the energy code. Your local code official and the Massachusetts Board of Building Regulations and Standards have the final word on all code subjects.
How can I request assistance to better understand the Massachusetts energy code provisions?
The Sponsors of Mass Save provides a toll-free number 1-855-757-9717 for technical assistance for code officials and others who have attended an energy code training session. In addition, questions can be emailed to [email protected].
