About Medeiros Auto Body

Medeiros Auto Body is a small, minority-owned business with a 3,340 square-foot facility on Alden Street in Fall River.

Project Summary

As part of Liberty’s outreach effort to small businesses, an energy assessment was performed at Medeiros Auto Body. During the assessment, the energy specialist found that the auto shop could benefit from additional insulation to help regulate the temperature, air sealing to prevent any leakages, and wireless thermostats for efficient temperature control. Liberty developed a cost-effective solution to insulating the property despite a variety of logistical challenges, specifically working around a fire suppression system. On a subsequent visit, a wireless thermostat was installed in the shop to help control the temperature. All in all, the installed measures reduced the gas usage at the property by more than 20% and resulted in a projected annual energy savings of 2,990 MMBTU. The measures also resulted in an estimated annual cost savings of $525 with a net cost to the customer of $3,105 after a $9,320 incentive from Liberty.

“Aside from the energy savings, I’ve noticed better comfort levels in the shop, to some extent in the winter, but especially in the summer by having my shop weatherized this spring.”
– John Medeiros, Owner
