Project Summary
When constructing a new parking garage, the Berkshire Medical Center (BMC) reached out to the Sponsors of Mass Save for technical and financial assistance to install the newest generation of LED lighting technology. Recognizing that they could save even more energy and money by replacing the existing sodium halide lights at a separate parking garage, BMC went back to Sponsors of Mass Save for rebates and incentives to replace the inefficient 1980’s lighting with even more energy saving LED’s. Encouraged by the savings, BMC searched for more efficiency opportunities and, with the help of the Sponsors of Mass Save, they installed energy efficient chillers which increased capacity of the hospitals cooling system and eliminated the use of the old electric powered chillers—minimizing energy use and costs.
Solution
Provided technical assistance and cash incentives toward efficiency upgrades for lighting equipment at the existing parking garage that led to savings over 120,000 kWh per year.
