What is Main Streets?
Main Streets is an annual initiative designed to help expand access to energy efficiency services and incentives for small businesses across Massachusetts. Through coordinated, community-based events and outreach, the Sponsors of Mass Save® work with municipalities, area Chambers of Commerce, and other community organizations to connect eligible small businesses owners with opportunities to reduce energy use, lower operating costs, upgrade to more efficient technologies, and improve overall building performance.
What to expect during a Main Streets event
During a Main Streets event, authorized contractors complete a no-cost, no-obligation assessment to identify practical efficiency opportunities tailored to your space and operations. These assessments may be pre-scheduled or offered on-the-spot at the convenience of local businesses. Recommended improvements may include:
- Weatherization upgrades, such as insulation or air sealing
- High-efficiency lighting controls upgrades and occupancy sensors
- Programmable thermostats
- Refrigeration controls
- Instant savings measures, like faucet aerators
