The Sponsors of Mass Save® Launch 2025 Main Streets Initiative to Connect Small Businesses with Energy Saving Opportunities
June 10, 2025BOSTON, MA. (June 9, 2025) — Continuing their ongoing commitment to connect small businesses with energy saving solutions, the Sponsors of Mass Save® are pleased to partner with 80 municipalities across the state as part of the 2025 Main Streets initiative. Running from April through November, this statewide outreach effort helps small business owners take advantage of Mass Save solutions to curb their energy use and take control of their bills. Small business owners can sign up for no-cost energy assessments and receive a personalized plan to boost energy efficiency and improve operations.
Since launching in 2020, Main Streets has supported thousands of small businesses in over 100 communities. In 2024, the Sponsors partnered with 91 communities and helped to weatherize 730 small businesses, leading to 2.1 million annual kwh saved.
“Helping small businesses optimize their energy use is an important tool for supporting resilience in a changing economy,” said Christopher Porter, Director of Customer Energy Management at National Grid. “Through Main Streets, the Sponsors of Mass Save provide resources that reduce operating costs, support long-term growth, and contribute to a healthier, cleaner community.”
This year, the mission moves forward with continued multilingual marketing efforts and increased community engagement. All events offer in-language support and provide translated materials including outreach flyers, applications, and contracts based on the top languages spoken in each area, making resources for energy efficiency and savings more accessible across communities throughout the state. All Massachusetts small businesses are eligible for incentives, services and support that can help improve their energy efficiency.
The Sponsors will be holding Main Streets events in the following towns this year:
Acton, Adams, Agawam/Feeding Hill, Amesbury, Andover, Arlington, Attleboro, Barnstable, Beverly, Billerica, Boston, Boylston, Brewster/Orleans, Brockton, Brookline, Buckland, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Chelsea, Chicopee, Colrain, Dedham, Duxbury, Easthampton, Everett, Fairhaven, Fall River, Gloucester, Granville, Greenfield, Hopkinton, Hudson, Lawrence, Leominster, Lexington, Lowell, Ludlow, Lynn, Malden, Martha’s Vineyard, Medford, Melrose, Methuen, Nantucket, Needham, New Bedford, Newburyport, Newton, North Adams, North Andover, Northampton, Norwood, Pittsfield, Plymouth, Plympton, Quincy, Randolph, Raynham, Revere, Rochester, Rockport, Salem, Sandwich, Saugus, Sharon, Sherborn, Shrewsbury, Somerville, Southbridge, Southwick, Springfield, Swampscott, Taunton, Watertown, Wayland, Westborough, Williamstown, Winthrop, Woburn, Worcester
“We are so pleased with our recent upgrades to our restaurant and tavern, which included insulation, air sealing and lighting,” said Melissa Christofori, co-owner of the Collins Tavern and participant in last year’s West Springfield Main Streets campaign. “Thanks to Eversource and Advanced Energy Group and their great service in helping Collins Tavern, we were able to continue making our business more efficient and environmentally friendly.”
The program starts with a no-cost, no-obligation energy assessment to identify energy-saving opportunities for small businesses, such as weatherization, insulation, occupancy sensors, programmable thermostats, refrigeration controls, lighting controls and more. Improvements like installing aerators and spray valves happen on the spot at no cost to the customer. More involved projects, like the installation of energy-efficient motor controls, are scheduled for a future date. The Sponsors of Mass Save offer increased incentives for a range of energy efficiency improvements to further offset the cost of upgrades, and interest-free financing may be available for any remaining costs.
Local licensed contractors and energy specialists engaged by the Sponsors will complete approved projects and ensure minimal disruption to daily business operations, and all high-efficiency products installed as part of this initiative include warranties for both materials and labor. For businesses interested in scheduling a no-cost, no-obligation assessment, including those in communities not part of an official Main Streets event this year, please visit www.masssave.com/smallbusiness.
