Chillers

Reduce building chiller water costs with advanced chiller technology.

Efficient chillers can lower the temperature of machinery and industrial spaces—reducing the wear and tear on equipment and lowering energy costs.

Chillers provided centralized cooling in buildings. They work by producing chilled water which is used to provide air conditioning.

There are two types of chillers: water-cooled and air-cooled. Water-cooled chillers use cooling towers, where as air-cooled chillers will blow air across their condenser much like a conventional air conditioning unit.

  1. Contact Your Program Sponsor
Before starting your project, provide your Program Sponsor with completed application, equipment specifications, project costs, and savings to see if the project is eligible for an incentive.
  2. Receive Pre-Approval from Your Program Sponsor
Once the Sponsor review has occurred and the project is determined eligible, a pre-approval letter will be issued outlining the incentive amount.
  3. Install Pre-Approved Equipment
Once your project has been pre-approved, purchase and install the qualifying equipment within 12 months.
  4. After Installation Is Completed
Once the installation is completed, notify your Program Sponsor and provide final documentation of installation, including invoice and final specifications. Once the information is verified, your incentive payment will be issued.

  • Must be an existing customer of Cape Light Compact, Eversource, National Grid, or Unitil
  • Pre-approval will be needed for prescriptive incentives to be provided for the installation of electrically operated, comfort-cooling Air-Cooled Water Chillers and Water-Cooled Water Chillers up to a maximum capacity of 1,000 tons

If you’re looking to implement high-efficiency cooling plant sequences or install high-efficiency cooling plant equipment beyond chillers, please contact your Program Sponsor for a customized project approach.

Case Study: Gentex Optics

Gentex Optics, the world’s leading provider of eyeglass lenses, saved $142,274 annually and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by replacing three existing process chillers with energy-efficient equipment and process controls.

Case Study: Berkshire Medical Center

Berkshire Medical Center installed energy-efficient chillers, which increased capacity for the hospital’s cooling system and eliminated the use of old electric-powered chillers—minimizing energy use and costs.
