About Comfort and savings at no cost
Homeowners in Westhampton participated in a no-cost energy assessment to find ways to make their home more comfortable. By making insulation improvements and installing LED lightbulbs and advanced power strips, the homeowners are expected to save $486 annually in energy costs.
Project Summary
What led Elizabeth Preston and Cindy White to get a no-cost Home Energy Assessment in their Westhampton home was a light bulb moment. Literally.
One day, Elizabeth was changing a light bulb and noticed she could feel a cold draft. At the recommendation of some friends, she called Mass Save® to get a Home Energy Assessment. Elizabeth and Cindy expected to receive a few good tips on saving energy, so they were pleasantly surprised to get so much more.
During the assessment, a Mass Save Energy Specialist inspected their home for energy-saving opportunities and installed $303 worth of energy-saving products and measures at no cost, including LED bulbs, and advanced power strips. The specialist also discovered several additional opportunities for energy efficiency upgrades in their home, outlining everything in a custom report.
Solution
Elizabeth and Cindy followed through on a number of their specialist’s recommendations, including insulation improvements and a bath fan hose replacement. They felt an improvement in home comfort immediately.
The upgrades also led to big savings. About 80% of the total project costs were covered, thanks to $2,062 in incentives from Eversource. The improvements they received during their assessment are expected to save them $486 annually, putting the project payback period at under a year.
Overall, Elizabeth and Cindy were very pleased with the entire experience, saying the team that completed the work were timely, attentive and professional. They’re now looking forward to a comfortable, efficient winter for themselves and their two cats.
