Homes often either lack the proper amount of insulation or they do not have any at all. This is especially true of older New England homes, which typically don't have adequate insulation levels to keep your home at a comfortable temperature. Since your attic and exterior walls take up the largest surface area of your home, they can be your greatest areas of heat loss in the winter and cooling loss in the summer.
A well-insulated home can increase overall comfort while reducing energy usage and lowering utility costs. Insulation is added between walls and in attics to ensure that the conditioned air from your heating or cooling system stays within the home. Proper insulation and air sealing work together to create an effective thermal envelope, the barrier that keeps heat inside during the winter and outside during the summer.
Increased insulation also comes with additional benefits, such as reducing outside noise, decreasing the amount of pollen and dust that enters your home, and increasing humidity control.
How it works
Available rebates and incentives
If during your Home Energy Assessment it was recommended that you have insulation added to your home, an instant incentive of 75% off is available when you move forward with your recommended work. An enhanced incentive of 100% off insulation upgrades is available for income-qualified customers.
Sign and return the contract provided to you during your assessment (along with a deposit, if applicable). If you need a replacement contract, contact the Energy Specialist or contractor that conducted your assessment.
The assigned Mass Save® approved installation contractor will contact you to schedule your recommended improvements or if you’re working with a Home Performance Contractor, contact them to schedule your work.

On your contract, list the selected contractor in the applicable area, then sign and return the contract. You will be contacted by your selected contractor to schedule the recommended work.
