DVD & Blu-ray

Enjoy ENERGY STAR® certified DVD and Blu-ray players as part of your perfect movie night.

ENERGY STAR certified DVD and Blu-ray players deliver the same image quality, features, and compatibility as non-certified players, but use less energy. ENERGY STAR certified DVD players are approximately 40 percent more energy efficient than non-certified equipment. Similarly, Blu-ray players that have earned the ENERGY STAR Seal are, on average, 45 percent more efficient than conventional Blu-ray players.

Mass Save® doesn’t currently offer incentives for this measure, but below are some resources to help you choose the most efficient option.

DVD and Blu-ray Players Continue to Draw Electricity When Turned Off

An average U.S. home has 40 products continuously using power, and this includes DVD and Blu-ray players. Under normal conditions, these products continue to use power even when turned off. ENERGY STAR-certified players are tested to meet energy efficiency standards both while active and in idle modes. Be sure to look for the ENERGY STAR label when you’re shopping for a DVD or Blu-ray player, or other home electronics, and plug them in to an advanced power strip to cut out wasted energy when they’re turned off.
