Watts of Hope for the Ellie Fund

Fighting Back by Raising Funds and Awareness

This autumn, for the fourth year in a row, the Sponsors of Mass Save are proud to partner with Massachusetts nonprofit Ellie Fund to host a fall fundraiser and promotion that links special, pink-based LED light bulbs to a donation that supports important services provided to patients and families battling breast cancer. This year’s fundraiser, Watts of Hope, will run from October 30th through November 8th, 2015.

The Ellie Fund is a Massachusetts 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of providing essential support services for breast cancer patients to ease the stresses of everyday life, allowing them to focus on family, recovery and healing. Their services include transportation to medical appointments, providing prepared and delivered meals, help with childcare and housekeeping, and other tasks that can reduce daily pressures and enable patients to concentrate their energy on recuperation.

Four Years of Partnership

Every year, the Sponsors have worked to find new and creative ways to partner with the Ellie Fund and, each year, have been humbled by the immense support of Massachusetts residents and communities. In past years, Mass Save and the Ellie Fund raised awareness both high and wide, lighting the top of the Prudential Tower pink in 2013. Energy-saving pink-based bulbs were given away at local farmers markets and art walks in 2014. Each year, the partnership has included a combination of in-store and online sales in which a portion of each bulb’s sale price has gone toward supporting the valuable services that the Ellie Fund provides.

2015 Mass Save and Ellie Fund Partnership – Watts of Hope

This year, from October 30th through November 8th, the Residential Lighting sponsors of Mass Save, which includes Cape Light Compact, Eversource, National Grid and Unitil, will host an online sales promotion, Watts of Hope! The promotion will offer a four-pack of pink-based ENERGY STAR® certified LED bulbs for just $10. Half of each sale—$5 from every pack sold—will be donated to the Ellie Fund. You can help by spreading the word and telling your friends, neighbors and social media networks to join in! Please use the hashtag #WattsofHope on social media.

To participate in the promotion, click here between October 30th and November 8th and purchase a four-pack of pink-based ENERGY STAR certified LED bulbs. The bulbs will illuminate your home with a beautiful warm light while helping the Ellie Fund assist many families in our communities in getting the support they need to focus on healing. Each A19 bulb uses just 9 watts of energy to produce the same amount of light that’s generated from a 60 watt incandescent bulb.

This year’s fundraiser is also made possible by the support of lighting manufacturer Greenlite and distribution partner TechniArt. Thank you to all the partners and promotion participants for making this year’s Watts of Hope promotion a success.
