Introduction to Networked Lighting Controls

Timing: Wednesday, April 3rd @ 8AM-3PM ET

Location: National Grid - Hopedale Office 245 S Main St Hopedale, MA 01747

Networked Lighting Control systems (NLCs) have been proven to save upwards of 50-90% energy in various installations. Additionally, there are many other “non-energy benefits” to using an NLC system. We will review the parts and pieces that make up a system – servers, gateways, controllers, sensors and switches. All NLC systems have the same basic functions, but each manufacturer’s equipment varies in terms of exact details of their components – and, more importantly, how the operating software works. In this class, we’ll start with a review of how NLC systems work, and we’ll also look at the DLC Qualified Products List. That is a powerful tool to help you narrow down your search to a short list of appropriate systems for a specific project. The highlight of the class is that most of the time will be spent with you – yes you! – wiring and then commissioning a wireless NLC system! Everyone is welcome whether you’ve ever wired anything or not. By the end of the day, you will see that deploying an NLC system is not actually rocket science! You don’t need to bring anything to the class – but if you have a laptop and can bring that with you, you can use that to commission the equipment in class. If not, laptops will be provided to each group.
