Achieve ENERGY STAR® certification when you build

The Massachusetts New Homes with ENERGY STAR® Program, sponsored by your local electric and gas utilities and energy efficiency service providers, promotes the construction of homes that are built to achieve ENERGY STAR® certification, contain qualifying equipment and/or incorporate other above-code energy efficiency standards.

ENERGY STAR® qualified homes meet strict energy guidelines established by the Environmental Protections Agency and are at least 15% more energy-efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC). They also are preferred by many homebuyers because they save money on utilities, are more comfortable and help protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

For Your Home

ENERGY STAR® qualified homes can include a variety of energy-efficient features including insulation, high performance windows, tight construction and ducts, energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment and products. These all contribute to improved home quality and comfort, and to lower energy demand and reduced air pollution.

For Builders

Excellent benefits are provided to homebuilders who construct ENERGY STAR® qualified homes within the service territories of the sponsoring utilities and energy efficiency service providers.

The Program will award monetary incentives to homebuilders who complete and submit certification of the construction of new ENERGY STAR® qualified homes between December 16, 2009 and December 15, 2010.
